SHOULD I FIX IT?
Deciding to fix anything is based on 2 main factors.
Are the parts available? If the parts required to fix it aren’t available…well I think you know what to do at this point.
What are your current needs? By this, I mean how long are you willing to wait to have a working appliance?
Let’s say that you have a 5-year-old dishwasher and the seals in the sump assembly have already worn out and began to leak water on your floor. You paid $600 for the dishwasher. The repair (diagnostics, parts, labor) will cost you $450.
Some would consider it not worth it, but there are other factors to consider. For instance, a new dishwasher of the same model may cost a couple hundred dollars more than when you purchased the original.
These days, thanks to Covid and other issues with product availability, it could take MONTHS to get a new appliance.
In most cases, it is absolutely most cost-effective to fix the appliance and have a working machine in a week or 2.
BUT THAT’S COMPLETELY UP TO YOU AND YOUR CURRENT NEEDS.
